Ways to Relieve Stress

Knowing some ways to relieve stress will help in with anger management. Stress has become a part and parcel of everyday life which cannot be avoided. Constant stress can be dangerous for your mental and physical well being. As one cannot avoid stress altogether, it is necessary to learn how to handle stress.

Some of the stress busters that you can use to lead a stress free life are:

• Talk to loved ones about your tensions and stress. Seek their help and support to deal with stress

• Make time to practice relaxation techniques. Deep breathe, meditate or do yoga, anything that relaxes you.

• Accept that you cannot change everything you do not like or be able to resolve all of life’s problems.

• If you feel you are reaching boiling point, count to ten before responding.

• When in stress avoid smoking, alcohol or drugs. These things have an adverse affect on stress.

• Try to have a positive outlook towards life. Look for good things even if the situation threatens to turn bad.

• Remain active and perform some physical activity regularly. Find out something that you enjoy such as walking, swimming, jogging, golfing, walking a pet, or cycling and incorporate it in your lifestyle.

• Seek the help of a professional if you are not able to cope with stress on your own.

• Make a list of things that causes stress, what extent of stress it causes and how they affect you. Understand what situations upset and avoid it.

• Remember you cannot do everything you want to do. If you find your schedule hectic and stressful, try to delegate some of your workload to others.

• If there are things you cannot do or do not wish to do, then learn to say “no”. Do not feel obligated to doing things just because you feel you have to.

• Set priorities in life and stick to them. If you decide that you will have family meals then set aside time for it.

• If you find your stress levels increasing, it is time to take a break and relax before heading back to your schedule.

• Under stress it is common to keep thinking over the situation repeatedly even after it is over. This leads to increased stress. Learn to let go and stop reliving the stressful situation.

• When under stress, do not remain idle. If your routine stresses you, try to change your routine or try a different approach to the situation.

• Find out what makes you happy and make time for peace and enjoyment everyday. Make it a part of your daily life to avoid stress.

• Accept that stress and worries are a part of life and cannot be avoided, but that learning to apply some ways to relieve stress can alleviate emotional turmoil.

• Analyze how you handle tense situations and try to find alternative actions or thought processes to manage stress better.

• Be confident of handling stress. Building a sense of self-esteem goes a long way in beating stress.
